Peel water treatment
In many factories for the production of potato crisps and French Fries, potatoes are mechanically – unheated - peeled. When peeling and cutting potatoes, peels, slivers and starch are generated. Potatoes are transported in water; the residues therefore are caught in the water.
Nivoba supplies a system comprising a press that considerably reduces the (transport-) volume of the residues. The effluent from the press still contains a vast volume of starch. This starch can be separated from the water and concentrated in a hydrocyclone unit. This raw starch is a valuable raw material and can be used for further processing.
Recovery of starch substantially reduces the load to waste water treatment plants.
